MOSCOW, July 21 A helicopter involved in fighting forest fires crashed in western Canada, its pilot died, SVS reports.
The crash site near Haig Lake in Alberta was discovered by forestry workers. They tried to give the pilot first aid, but were unable to resuscitate him.
According to the Canadian Transportation Safety Board, a Bell 205A helicopter was delivering water to put out the fire.
On Monday it was reported about the death of a firefighter who fought a fire in the Canadian Northwest Territories. Earlier, Canadian Public Safety Minister Bill Blair acknowledged that the fire situation in Canada is the worst of this century. According to him, about 5,000 specialists are working to extinguish fires in various provinces, including Alberta, Quebec and Nova Scotia, and there are more than a thousand «international fire extinguishers» in the country.
