ATHENS, Jul 19The Antiquities Conservation Union in Greece intends to organize four-hour strikes at archaeological sites in the coming days of abnormal heat to protect the health of employees and visitors.
More than 20 visitors have fainted on the Acropolis in recent days, the Panhellenic Union of Antiquities Conservation Workers (PEYFA) said following an extraordinary board meeting.

«In order to protect the health of workers and visitors, the union will strike from July 20 to July 23 from 4 p.m. until the end of the shift at all archaeological sites that are open from 08.00 to 20.00, and at the White Tower in Thessaloniki, where there is no air conditioning,» the organization said. a two-hour strike will take place from 13.30 to 15.30, the union said.

Anomalous heat has set in Greece since July 12, in some places the air temperature exceeded 44 degrees. Because of this, the Acropolis was closed to visitors from 12:00 to 17:00.
Since Monday, the country has seen a slight decrease in temperature after five days of abnormal weather, and from July 20, a second heat wave is expected and temperatures will rise to 43-44 degrees Celsius.
Earlier, the Screen Actors Guild and the US Federation of Television and Radio Artists went on strike. They were unable to negotiate with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) to improve working conditions.
