The Sovetsky District Court of Kazan arrested a local resident, Sergei Novikov, in the case of preparing a terrorist attack at a tank school (Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code). The correspondent of Realnoe Vremya reported this from the courtroom.
According to investigators, the man is associated with the Freedom of Russia Legion, which is fighting in Ukraine on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He planned to set fire to military equipment at the training ground of the Kazan Tank School for a reward of 25 thousand rubles from «unknown recruiters.»
The security forces claim that Novikov made a cache with 17 Molotov cocktails on Dubravnaya Street — not far from the landfill and his home. During the search, they also found components necessary for the manufacture of explosives, a box of fireworks and parts of a quadcopter.
Kazan zadrezhali on the night of Wednesday, July 19. According to Realnoe Vremya, he immediately admitted his guilt, and did not object to the arrest at the trial.
