The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow has received two protocols against blogger Milana Petrova, who has made a transgender transition. This was confirmed to Mediazone by court representative Maria Osvaldo, specifying that the protocols were drawn up in Youtuber’s birth name.
The first case was brought under the article on “LGBT propaganda” on the Internet (part 3 of article 6.21 of the Code of Administrative Offenses), and the second — under the article on “discrediting” the actions of the Russian military in Ukraine (part 1 of article 20.3.3 Code of Administrative Offenses). The first article provides for a fine of up to 200 thousand, and the second — up to 50 thousand.
The court did not answer the question of what was the reason for the protocols.
Milana Petrova left Russia in 2021, even before the coming out about her transition. She explained this by possible persecution for her content: according to the blogger, she was called to the police department as part of an inspection under an administrative article on “propaganda of homosexuality.” In 2022, Petrova announced the transition and launched a reality show on YouTube about life in Bali.
Petrova became famous thanks to her beauty blog, and now she runs a telegram channel about gossip about stars. She was among the transgender bloggers whom the head of the Safe Internet League, Ekaterina Mizulina, wrote complaints to law enforcement agencies. Dasha Koreika and Hilmi Forks were also among them. The latter was detained in July in a criminal case. Three days ago, Mizulina boasted that, following her complaint, Petrova’s YouTube and Telegram channels were included in the register of banned sites. They are still available now.
