The prosecutor asked to appoint 18 years in prison to the founder of the cybercrime company Group-IBIlya Sachkov in the case of treason. His lawyer Sergei Afanasyev told RIA Novosti about this. «>PlotThe Sachkov case. The founder of Group‑IB was accused of treason
The case of Sachkov, who was arrested in September 2021, has been considered behind closed doors in the Moscow City Court since early July. The plots of cases under the article on treason (275 of the Criminal Code) are classified.
Sachkov himself wrote that he was accused of transferring «more than 10 years ago» to the US government data on Russian hackers, which he learned from the then head of the FSB Information Security Center Sergey Mikhailov, who oversaw the IT sector. Mikhailov was subsequently, in 2019, sentenced to 22 years in prison in a case of treason due to cooperation with the FBI.
According to the 37-year-old founder of Group-IB, his persecution was the revenge of Mikhailov and his deputy and successor at the post Oleg Kashentsov due to the fact that Sachkov «drawn the attention of the FSB FSB for crimes» by Mikhailov himself.
