
MOSCOW, July 21 American singer Tony Bennett died in New York at the age of 96, the Associated Press reports citing the musicians' agent.
«Agent Sylvia Weiner has confirmed Bennett's passing to The Associated Press, stating that he died in his hometown of New York,» the agency writes.
The musician died two weeks before his 97th birthday. The cause of death has not been reported. It is known that in 2016, Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
Bennett toured until the summer of 2021, becoming famous for his creative longevity. At 95, he performed with Lady Gaga.
In July, the duo played two shows at the Radio City Music Hall in New York called «One Last Time: An Evening With Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga». One of these concerts was dedicated to the anniversary of Bennett. In addition, together with Lady Gaga, Bennet presented the video clip «I Get a Kick Out of You».
Variety artist Tonny Bennett (real name — Anthony Benedetto) became famous in the early 1950s thanks to the song Because Of You, which hit the first lines of the music charts.
