«Instructions for the storage of museum valuables stipulate that after transportation it is impossible to immediately open the box with the exhibit — it must adapt to the room for some time,» explained Elena Prokhanova, head of the department for scientific and methodological work and exhibition activities of the Grabar Center.
Icon «Holy Trinity» (“Hospitality of Abraham”) was written by Andrei Rublev in the 15th century for the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. There it was located until the 20s of the 20th century, and in 1929 it was transferred to the State Tretyakov Gallery.
Before transporting the storage, experts of the Tretyakov Gallery appreciated the condition of the shrine. Barry Dmitry Sergeev. 
Now the relic is waiting for a more detailed examination. Its results will be presented in the near future at a meeting of the extended restoration council, which will include specialists from the Tretyakov Gallery. They also plan to invite representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church there. Together they will form a plan of work to preserve the icon.
A special room has been prepared for the relic in the Grabar Center. It provided the same conditions: temperature 19 degrees, humidity 50-55 percent. They also installed LED lamps with a color temperature of four thousand kelvins. There is a gas fire extinguishing system and security.
After all the work, St. Today they plan to return it to its historical place — the Trinity Cathedral of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra.
In May, Vladimir Putin ordered the return of a masterpiece of ancient Russian icon painting to the church. By the feast of the Trinity, she was transported to the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, where she could bow until 17:00 on July 18. Now the icon is to be restored at the Grabar Center.
Last week, Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia signed an agreement according to which the Trinity remains in state ownership, but is transferred to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra for free use for 49 years.
