The introduction of a new form of Russian money — the digital ruble — may complicate doing business in a number of remote regions of the Russian Federation. This was warned by the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises Alexander Demin.
The speech, as the parliamentarian explained, is about places where the quality of infrastructure for the introduction of a new form of money is not yet enough. If in the central regions “there is definitely a prospect for development”, then, according to Demin, in remote places where there are problems with communication, where “it is not always possible to use the same terminal”, more questions arise.
The digital ruble will remove transaction costs when paying, the deputy is sure. On the other hand, it will lead to the fact that entrepreneurs will be required to review the structure of their business and “completely digitize it.”
The law on the digital ruble was adopted by the lower house of parliament on July 11. Later, the senators also approved it.
The new form, as reported, will combine the properties of cash and non-cash Russian money. The mass introduction of digital rubles in Russia, according to the forecasts of the Central Bank, is possible from 2025.
