The head of the State Duma Committee on Defense Andrei Kartapolov, during a meeting on July 25, explained to the deputies why the parliament is considering new amendments to the law on military service. So, he said that the purpose of the amendments is to restore order in the military accounting system, the use of modern services to minimize the interaction between citizens and the military registration and enlistment office. Among other things, the head of the committee emphasized that deviators should not be given a privileged position, and criticized the amendments with proposals for delays.
«This law was written for a big war, for general mobilization,» Kartapolov said. — And now it already smacks of this big war.
Kartapolov was outraged by the fact that «we all continue to look for someone» to remove from there (from the law, from the conscription. — "MK"), but "there will be no one to protect later". So he criticized the proposed amendments, which were supposed to exempt fathers of three children or disabled children from the call for the mobilization of fathers of three children or children with disabilities.
«You will vote for preservation of a comfortable life for deviators,» Kartapolov added, «repeated opportunities for them to become heroes of the capture of Upper Lars.»
