A Moscow resident was sentenced to almost two years in a colony-settlement in the case of arson of an SUV with the letter Z

The Butyrsky District Court of Moscow has appointed a year and 10 months in a colony-settlement to a resident of the capital, Philip Maslovsky, in the case of arson in Altufyevo of an SUV with a Z sticker. This is reported by a Mediazona correspondent from the courtroom.

The prosecutor's office asked to appoint a man two years in prison. The lawyer told a Mediazona correspondent that the defense would not appeal the verdict.

According to the investigation, on the night of January 28, 23-year-old Maslovsky set fire to a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV near Altufevskoye Highway. It had the symbols Z, the inscriptions «#We don't leave our own», «#I'm not ashamed of #I'm Russian» and the imperial coat of arms. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the car's engine compartment and part of the passenger compartment burned down.

Maslovsky fully admitted his guilt, his case was considered in a special manner. The man called the arson «stupidity» and «a mistake.» According to him, he saw a car on the street with a sticker that «looks like a Nazi swastika» and he «matured thoughts to cause a little damage to this car.» Maslovsky claimed that he did not see symbols of support for a “special military operation” on the SUV.

During the investigation, the man was in a pre-trial detention center.
