ULAN-UDE, July 28 Rescuers of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations found the body of a tourist who disappeared on July 6 while rafting as part of a tourist group on the Snezhnaya River in Buryatia, press reports — service of the regional head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Irkutsk region.
On the evening of July 6, the duty unit of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a message that four catamarans with tourists capsized while rafting down the Snezhnaya River near the village of Vydrino, Kabansky District. Three people were saved, five were searched. Later, a Mi-8 helicopter was sent to search, after which three missing people were found alive. Another tourist was found alive on July 7. Searches were conducted for the eighth member of the tourist group.
According to the press service, on the eve of the group of rescuers on a Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Emergencies Ministry went to Buryatia on the Ara-Burektai River.
«For two days, rescuers on catamarans rafted and searched. This morning, a drowned tourist was found on the Snezhnaya River in the area of Mount Monomakh's Cap. Search work has been completed,» the department said.
