By the end of June, Russian banks issued a deferment on loans to more than 217,000 contract soldiers, mobilized and volunteers fighting in Ukraine, as well as their families, according to the Central Bank report for the second quarter of 2023. Mediazona drew attention to this.
According to the report, the total amount of loan holiday agreements since October 2022, when the law on benefits for war veterans and their relatives was adopted, amounted to 85.2 billion rubles.
After March 2023, the Central Bank stopped publishing information on loan deferments every month, but even quarterly figures show growth: if in the first quarter 20.7 thousand new benefits were issued, then in the second — already 29 thousand.< /p>
As Mediazona previously noted, an increase in the number of new applications for benefits has been observed since March of this year, which may indicate a massive emergence of new participants in the war, since it is forbidden to issue benefits for loans taken after being sent to the front .
In early July, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev announced that since the beginning of 2023 alone, more than 185 thousand people have signed a contract with the Armed Forces.
Data from the Central Bank show that in March the number of war veterans who requested credit benefits increased sharply
