Ministry of Emergency Situations: Nine people became victims of a hurricane in the Volga region, 67 were injured

Nine people died and 67 were injured due to squally winds in the regions of the Volga Federal District. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
According to the agency, from Saturday on the territory of eight subjects of the Volga Federal District (the republics of Mari El, Chuvashia and Tatarstan, Nizhny Novgorod, Ulyanovsk, Kirov, Samara, Penza regions) dangerous weather events have been observed. Wind gusts reach 27 m/s.
Earlier it became known that the number of victims of bad weather in the Republic of Mari El increased to seven people, including four adults and three children, at least 24 people were injured.
According to the head of the committee civil defense and protection of the population of the Republic of Mari El Alexander Malkin, a flurry in the vicinity of Lake Yalchik flew on Saturday around 18:00. At that moment there were about five hundred cars of vacationers. A large number of cars and tents were littered with fallen trees
Rescuers and police officers were involved in the work on the spot, an airmobile group of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation arrived. Most of the work was done before dark. The debris removal was resumed at dawn.
