
GENICH (Kherson region), Jul 31 Elections to the legislative assembly of the Kherson region on a single voting day will be held in 14 municipal districts, including in emergency zones due to flooding after the terrorist attack at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, as well as in places where evacuation was announced, the chairman of the territorial election commission of the Kherson region told reporters area Marina Zakharova.
In the Kherson region, as in other new Russian regions, residents will elect deputies to local legislative assemblies, which will then vote to elect the heads of subjects.
Zakharova recalled that the decision of the election commission dated June 15, 2023 supported the proposal of the acting governor of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo to hold elections in September 2023.
“In the territory of the Kherson region, the electoral system has been fully formed, polling stations have been formed in 14 municipal districts, including those located in the 15-30 km zone subject to evacuation, as well as in areas where the state of emergency is still in effect as a result of a terrorist attack on Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station. Polling stations were formed within the framework of Russian legislation in compliance with all the norms of the rules and requirements of the Russian Federation,» Zakharova said.
She also clarified that according to the decision of the Kherson Regional Electoral Commission, there is an opportunity to shorten the time of the electoral process in the Kherson region, so it was only started on July 24th.
Elections in Russia will be held on a single voting day on September 10, 2023. The Central Election Commission reported that elections of senior officials in 20 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and additional elections of State Duma deputies for four vacant seats in single-mandate constituencies are planned in the EDG. Elections are scheduled in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
