A former prisoner of the torture facility SIZO-6 in Angarsk is being transferred to a colony where the guards against whom he testified work

Yevgeny Yurchenko, a former prisoner of SIZO-6 in the Irkutsk region, who told about torture and rape in the detention center, is being transferred to IK-2 in Angarsk, where the guards against whom he testified work. This was reported to Taiga by its representative Pyotr Kuryanov.

According to Kuryanov, Yurchenko is being prepared for escort from IK-25 in Bratsk to a single cell-type room of the Angarsk IK-2. His boss is Captain Alexander Parygin. Yurchenko testified against him in the case of torture and rape in SIZO-6.

“Perhaps such a transfer to Parygin is the beginning of the massacre of Yurchenko, and there are quite serious reasons to say so,” said Kuryanov and said that he demanded from the court provide the prisoner with state protection.

Yevgeny Yurchenko is one of the victims in the case of mass torture of prisoners of IK-15, who, after a riot in the colony in April 2020, were transferred to SIZO-6. In IK-2, there is another guard against whom Yurchenko testified, senior lieutenant Konstantin Yaskevich. And the head of the colony is Roman Skorobogatov, a former employee of IK-15.

After his release, Yurchenko spoke publicly about torture. In January 2021, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on sexualized violence (Article 132 of the Criminal Code) and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm (Article 111 of the Criminal Code), which involved employees of SIZO-6 and the Irkutsk SIZO-1, where prisoners were also tortured. Parygin and Yaskevich are not among them. In May, according to him, “press workers” with the names Kurbatov, Gagarin, Slavgorodsky, Nepomnyashchikh and Olennikov were sentenced to terms of 10 to 11 years in a colony.

After spending a short time at liberty, in December 2021, Yevgeny Yurchenko was again detained and arrested in the case of complicity in the sale of drugs (Article 228 of the Criminal Code). A month later he was sentenced to 4 years and 7 months in prison. According to Yurchenko himself, the case was fabricated.
