More than 40 regions will take part in the «Reading August» project

MOSCOW, July 31 The «Reading August» project will take place in 40 regions of Russia from August 1 to August 20, said Denis Kotov, the author of the project.

"More than 300 events will be held as part of the festival program. More than 40 regions have joined our program,” Kotov said.

According to him, apart from the events in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Vladivostok and other cities of Russia , most of the festival is made up of online broadcasts, one of which — in Vladivostok — will last 60 hours.

The organizers of the project said that the goal of the festival was to increase the level of reading in the country: to create conditions for 80% of Russians to read 12 books a year or more. So far, on average, the country's inhabitants read about 6-7 books.

As part of the festival, the Road to the Lighthouse rally will take place from August 1 to 19, and a special book train will be launched from St. Petersburg.
In addition, the project provides for creative meetings with writers. Daria Dontsova, Tatyana Ustinova, Sergey Lukyanenko, Andrey Kurpatov, Alexander Myasnikov and other contemporary Russian authors will take part in the festival. The geography of the project will cover St. Petersburg, Moscow, the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Omsk, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk Regions, the Khabarovsk and Primorsky Territories and other regions.
