MOSCOW, 3 Aug. Composer and People's Artist of the USSR Raimonds Pauls explained why he did not come to the Rendezvous music festival of his protégé singer Laima Vaikule in Jurmala, the Paragraph portal reports.
The maestro of the Soviet and Latvian stage made it clear that he was not interested in participating in such events.
«
«I haven't been to her festival in recent years. This is not for me. There, Laima makes a show to his liking,” said Pauls.
In his opinion, Vaikule is fond of Western pop culture, while the composer now has other priorities.
«
«I've already gone through all this [variety genre]. I want to play what I like,” he summed up.
Earlier, Raimonds Pauls lamented that Latvia had become a “deaf province” after breaking off relations with Russia, including musical ones.
The festival «Rendezvous» was held in Jurmala at the end of July. Vaikule invited Ukrainian and Latvian artists to it, as well as Vera Brezhneva, who had fled Russia after the start of the special operation, foreign agents Maria Maksakova * and Andrei Makarevich *.
