MOSCOW, Aug. 2 The ruble intensifies its fall: the dollar has already risen above 94 rubles, according to the data of the Moscow Exchange.
So, by 17:20 the exchange rate of the American currency by «tomorrow» calculations grew by 1.69 rubles, up to 94.02. The dollar broke the bar of 94 rubles for the first time since March 28 last year.
In addition, the euro added 1.70 rubles, rising to 102.88, and the yuan — 21 kopecks, trading at the level of 13.05 rubles.
According to Sergei Konygin, Senior Economist at Sinara Investment Bank, the domestic currency is weakening due to the lack of support from exporters. As the expert explained, the demand for foreign currency is made by importers and large businesses as part of the buyout of shares of unfriendly non-residents. Part of the currency is deposited in foreign accounts, while trading volumes on the stock exchange remain low.
Nevertheless, Konygin believes that in August the ruble will be supported by pending sales of foreign currency by exporters, which will reach the market. In the coming month, he expects the ruble to strengthen to 88 per dollar.
