MOSCOW, Aug 4 A Russian environmental operator plans to create a neural network that will look for violations in landfills digitized using drones, the company said.
According to the company, in 2022, REO built 3D models of 496 landfills (there are about 900 in Russia in total) and estimated their residual capacity, recording more than three thousand violations.
«We plan to create a neural network this year that will do this automatically,» Alexei Burov, Deputy Director General for Digitalization of the REO, told reporters.
According to the company, the introduction of automatic search for violations is necessary to reduce the workload of analysts when processing large amounts of data.
The neural network will be able to notice smoldering and fire at the landfill, the absence of weight control, bypass channels, fencing, the presence of birds and other violations.
The «garbage» reform began in Russia on January 1, 2019. The key task of the REO, created in the same year, is to oversee the reform and form an integrated system for handling municipal solid waste in Russia.
