MOSCOW, Aug 5 The speed of Russian mobile missile systems will increase due to new communication systems, an informed source said.

“Short-wave communication lines have been developed for the Russian troops, which will allow much faster loading of flight missions into mobile missile systems for various purposes due to the increased volume of data transmission per unit of time. This will speed up the response of troops to enemy actions and will allow them to more quickly strike at identified targets or respond to the evolving situation in the theater of operations,” the agency’s interlocutor said.

As a military expert, a leading Russian specialist in the field of unmanned aircraft, Denis Fedutinov, explained, shortwave communication (HF) duplicates satellite and cable communication lines. In the second case, the means of signal transmission may be damaged, for example, in combat or during emergencies.

«Therefore, HF communication is relevant for the fleet, where you cannot stretch the cable behind the ship, or for missile systems that need to quickly turn around in a combat position, quickly obtain target designation and a flight mission and strike at the enemy, and then just as quickly change position,» the expert explained.

According to Fedutinov, many law enforcement agencies are currently working on increasing the data transfer rate in the HF band. Expanding the signal bandwidth, rather than increasing the number of narrowband channels, allows you to get higher speeds with the same amount of hardware.
“It is also necessary to increase the data transfer rate in the HF band because the combat control systems being put into operation require more channel bandwidth,” Fedutinov added.
Earlier, Ruselectronics announced the development of a new Saturn radio link, which will increase the data transmission rate in the HF band by eight times without increasing the amount of radio equipment due to the signal bandwidth expansion.

The holding clarified that during the tests of the new solution, the modem developed a data transfer rate of up to 57.6 kilobits per second. Increasing the transmitter power to 500 watts made it possible to raise the maximum speed to 76.8 kilobits per second, which is equivalent to using eight traditional HF radio systems with a 3.1 kilohertz band.
