Five Chinese citizens refused to be allowed into Russia after several hours on the border with Kazakhstan; The Chinese embassy in Russia called the incident «brutal» and causing «serious harm» to the rights of the Chinese. Bloomberg drew attention to the publication of the embassy in WeChat.
According to the embassy, five Chinese citizens tried to enter Russia from China through the Karauzek border checkpoint in the Astrakhan region. However, all travelers were denied entry and had their visas revoked. In addition, one of them posted a video showing him being repeatedly interrogated for four hours.
“This is not in line with the general state of friendly Sino-Russian relations and the trend towards more and more frequent exchanges between the two countries,”— the embassy said in a publication.
Responding to a request from Chinese representatives, the Russian side explained what happened by saying that the tourists did not match the destinations indicated in the visa application and the actual planned places of arrival. As a result, the Chinese representatives asked the Russian side to investigate the actions of the border guards.
Bloomberg noted that the embassy's reaction to the incident appeared only a few days after the user of the social network Douyin, with almost a million subscribers, posted a video with a story about what happened on the border with Russia. “Now we have a deep understanding of the broad and solid friendship between Russia and China,” the blogger said.
