
VLADIVOSTOK, Aug 5 Rescuers assisted a woman who injured her leg while descending the Ebeko volcano, the victim was taken to Severo-Kurilsk, reports the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Sakhalin Region on its Telegram channel.
According to the department, on Saturday evening, a message was received that a woman from an unregistered tourist group, who was descending from the Kuril volcano, needed help.
“A woman… got a leg injury and cannot continue the descent on her own. Rescuers provided first aid to the victim and took her to Severo-Kurilsk,” the report says.
The Ebeko Volcano, 1156 meters high, is located on Paramushir Island, seven kilometers northwest of Severo-Kurilsk, in the northern part of the Vernadsky Ridge. Regular releases (weak to moderate) on it have been ongoing since October 20, 2016, which is normal activity for a volcano. The record release was registered on August 31, 2018. Then a column of smoke shot up to a height of six kilometers from the new vent of the volcano, formed in 2017.
