There is still no word on whether the EV5 will come to Europe, but first deliveries are expected in the Chinese market before the end of the year, so if Kia plans to export the model, then we should not wait for other markets before 2024.
In terms of shape, the EV5 will be similar to the larger EV9, a traditional boxy SUV. With the EV5 Concept, Kia is looking to highlight how it plans to evolve its Opposites United design language.
says Kia chief designer Karim Habib.
Note that the concept also demonstrated the interior of the future novelty. The key influences of the EV9 can be found in the integration of the widescreen infotainment display and digital instrument cluster on top of the dash. Inside, a completely flat floor maximizes interior space. A large glass panoramic roof with integrated solar panels allows for stargazing at night.
As we said, there are no technical details about the EV5 concept yet, but we can safely assume that the car will rely on 800-volt the electrified E-GMP platform used under a growing number of Kia and Hyundai electric vehicles. A maximum battery size of 77 kWh will give the production model a range in excess of 480 km.
