Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday 9 August, spoke on the phone with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev. As the Kremlin press service clarifies, the politicians discussed topical issues of further development of bilateral relations.
During the conversation, various aspects of the strategic partnership and alliance between Russia and Uzbekistan were touched upon.
At the same time, Putin and Mirziyoyev agreed to intensify bilateral contacts at various levels.
Earlier, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Russia Botirjon Asadov met with representatives of the business community of the Arkhangelsk region. They discussed the prospects for expanding mutually beneficial economic ties. According to the deputy chairman of the regional government, Viktor Ikonnikov, the trade turnover between the region and the Central Asian republic has grown two and a half times over the past six years.
