MOSCOW, Aug 8 The entire NATO system is practically is openly fighting against Russia, but the Russian Federation has enough strength to solve all the tasks of a special military operation and achieve peace on its own terms, said Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
Medvedev published a post on his Telegram channel on August 8 (on the anniversary of the Georgian -Ossetian conflict).
«The United States and its vassals then clearly did not have enough experience. Today they are again waging a criminal war by proxy, trying to wipe Russia off the face of the earth. The entire NATO system is practically openly fighting against us,» Medvedev wrote.
«We have enough strength to solve all the tasks of a special military operation. As in August 2008, our enemies will be crushed, and Russia will achieve peace on its own terms. Victory will be ours!» — he added.
Medvedev also wrote that 15 years ago Russia resolutely «responded to the vile attack on Tskhinvali, gave a tough rebuff to the aggressor.»
“Behind the idiot (Mikhail — ed.) Saakashvili (ex-president of Georgia — ed.) stood the collective West, which already then sought to shake up the situation in the immediate vicinity of the borders of Russia. Our Armed Forces quickly and severely punished the brazen nationalists in five days. They protected our people who lived in Abkhazia and South Ossetia from the enemy. They gave the new states the opportunity to develop with the support of Russia,” Medvedev said. Georgian troops attacked the republic and destroyed part of its capital, Tskhinvali. Russia, protecting the inhabitants of South Ossetia, many of whom took Russian citizenship, sent troops into the republic and after five days of hostilities ousted the Georgian military from the region.
On August 26, 2008, Moscow recognized the sovereignty of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The leaders of Russia have repeatedly stated that the recognition of the independence of the two former Georgian autonomies reflects the existing realities and is not subject to revision. Georgia still does not recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent states and considers them to be its regions.
