MOSCOW, August 9 Since June, domestic retailers have been receiving notifications from suppliers about price increases for tea and coffee, but it’s too early to talk about a general one-time price increase, said Igor Karavaev, Chairman of the Presidium of the Association of Retail Trade Companies (AKORT).
“Retail chains do receive notifications of price increases for tea and coffee from some suppliers. Such requests have been received since June. Some of the notifications are under consideration and it is still premature to talk about a widespread one-time increase in retail prices for this category,” he said.
Karavaev also noted that there is no shortage of products in the tea and coffee segments in the AKORT member companies. In addition, some of these products are presented in the private label segment of retailers and, as a rule, are the most affordable in terms of price-quality ratio.
Kommersant wrote on Wednesday that major tea and coffee producers have been raising selling prices for retailers since September amid a weakening ruble and rising prices for cocoa beans due to falling yields. Russian consumers have access to tea and coffee in various price categories, the Ministry of Agriculture commented later, explaining also that the price of such products is primarily affected by the cost of raw materials that are not produced in the country.
In turn, industry representatives told the agency that tea and coffee producers in Russia are gradually increasing selling prices for their products due to the weakening of the ruble and rising production costs, but the increase will be gradual, and consumers will the opportunity to choose affordable products. .html» data-title=»Jacobs coffee producer will withdraw foreign brands from the Russian market»>
