MOSCOW, Aug 8 The Central Election Commission of Russia has the right postpone elections in new regions of the Russian Federation if there is a threat to the security of citizens and members of election commissions, but so far «everything is going well,» said Ella Pamfilova, head of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pamfilova already reported that if the situation in the new regions of Russia worsens, then the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation has the right to postpone the elections there.

"We still have the right and the opportunity, if the situation worsens in one or another region of a new constituent entity of the Russian Federation and we understand that there is a threat to the safety of the voter, we have the right to postpone the elections. That is, we can use this right until the last moment. While everything is going well, our colleagues are working,” Pamfilov told reporters.
According to her, if before September 10, before the start of voting in the territory of the new regions of the Russian Federation, the situation threatens the security of the elections, then the CEC of the Russian Federation has the right to postpone them.
Elections in Russia will be held on a single voting day on September 10, 2023. Elections of senior officials in 20 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and additional elections of State Duma deputies for four vacant seats in single-mandate constituencies are planned in the EDG. Elections have been scheduled in the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
Referendums on the entry of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation were held on September 23-27, 2022. On September 30, Putin spoke in the Kremlin following the results of these referendums, after which he signed agreements with their heads on the admission of regions into Russia.
