Stenin Competition 2023: Indian entry wins online voting

MOSCOW, August 8. In early August, the Andrey Stenin International Photojournalism Contest completed the online voting, in which Internet users took part.
The photo «Gulls on the Jumna River» by Indian journalist Kabir Dhangyani became the leader of the vote.
The author himself described his work as follows: «A man is driving a boat along the banks of the Jumna River in New Delhi. In winter, migratory birds arrive in India. By October, they can already be seen all over the country, and in March they fly away.»

The top 5 shortlisted works according to Internet users also included single photos and series of reporters from Russia and Burundi: the second place in the online voting was given to the photographic series «Sleeping Queens» by Fabrice Mbonankira( Burundi), third and fourth places were given to single photographs of Russians — «Remembering the 45th» Pelagia Tikhonova and «Individual race» Evgeny Filippov. In fifth place is the work of another Indian photographer, photojournalist from Kolkata Sayyan Adhikari «A Dying Tradition».

The prize places of the shortlist nominees, as well as the winner of the Grand Prix, will be announced by the Organizing Committee of the competition in September on the website. About the Contest

The Andrey Stenin International Photojournalism Contest, organized by the Rossiya Segodnya media group under the auspices of the Russian Commission for UNESCO, aims to support young photographers and attract public attention to the tasks of modern photojournalism. This is a platform for young photographers — talented, sensitive and open to everything new, where they draw our attention to people and events around us.
