The four-door did not get all the new things that the five-door modifications received. In addition, the sedan lost the base engine and hybrid version.
The global Peugeot 508 in the second generation has turned from a sedan into a liftback with frameless doors, while a station wagon is still represented on the “world” market. In China, they also produce and sell a stretched four-door version of the 508L with regular doors. By the way, things are not going well for the Stellantis concern in the Celestial Empire now, and the sedan is not popular there either: according to local specialized media, in the six months of this year, the four-door sold only 2144 copies. And yet, the Peugeot 508L is not going to retire yet: the sedan has been updated following the liftback and station wagon (the converted five-door debuted back in February).

In front, the Chinese four-door still repeats the global model. Elka got a similar new bumper, frameless grille and matrix optics with running lights in the form of «lion's claws». But if the five-door Peugeot 508 also got modernized rear lights, then the sedan has the same ones, although the Peugeot inscription on the black glossy plate uniting the lights has nevertheless become larger.

The dimensions of the Peugeot 508L have not changed, the length is 4870 mm, the width is 1855 mm, the height is 1455 mm, the wheelbase is 2848 mm. For comparison, the dimensions of the liftback are: 4750/1859/1403 mm, the distance between the axles is 2793 mm. The trunk volume of the Chinese sedan is 513 liters compared to 487 liters for the global five-door. The four-door model is equipped with 17- or 18-inch wheels (19- and 20-inch wheels are also available for the liftback). » />
Inside, there is an improved multimedia system and wireless charging for a smartphone. But the sedan does not have a tiny transmission selector, like a restyled liftback and station wagon: a rather massive joystick still flaunts on the central tunnel. The list of Peugeot 508L equipment also includes (depending on configuration) virtual tidy, panoramic roof, night vision system, all-round cameras, adaptive cruise control, auto-braking and lane keeping systems.

The engine range of the sedan was reduced, the base turbo four 1.6 (170 hp) and 6AKP were retired, there is no longer a rechargeable hybrid version with an installation based on the same engine (and this is in the era of «green»!). Now the Peugeot 508L is available only with the older 1.8 turbo engine (211 hp), which is combined with an eight-speed automatic. The global model has a different line — there are both hybrids and diesel.
The price of the updated four-door varies from $22,600 to $28,700. It is possible that later one of the Russian dealers will decide to bring the Chinese Peugeot 508L under the parallel import scheme.
