MOSCOW, August 11 In Moscow, a group that registered Ukrainians in the DPR for simplified acquisition of Russian citizenship was uncovered, said Yulia Ivanova, senior assistant to the head of the capital's head office of the Investigative Committee.
«The activities of members of an organized criminal group who are accused of committing numerous grave crimes aimed at organizing the illegal migration of Ukrainian citizens to the territory of Russia have been suppressed. <…> A criminal case has been initiated on the grounds of a crime <…&gt «Organizing illegal migration,» she said.

According to the agency, the perpetrators had connections with officials involved in granting citizenship. In the period from 2021 to 2023, they created an organized group, which included at least seven citizens of Russia and Moldova, an employee of the migration department of the Voronezh Ministry of Internal Affairs, and others.

For a fee, the criminals produced documents or entered false information about registration on the territory of the DPR in the period before it became part of Russia. This allowed Ukrainians to obtain citizenship in a simplified manner.
Investigators conducted more than ten searches and seizures in two regions, seized stamps, seals and letterheads of government agencies and institutions, including foreign states.
«Seven members of an organized group were detained, who, depending on the role of each, were charged with committing two episodes of crimes. <…> They admitted their guilt in full and gave confessions. The investigation intends to petition the court for election preventive measures for them,» Ivanova added.
Now the Investigative Committee is identifying accomplices in the crime.
