
MOSCOW, Aug 11 Acting Governor of the Zaporozhye Region Evgeny Balitsky said in an interview that he is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where he intends to ask for support in the upcoming gubernatorial elections in September.
«Now we are discussing it (meeting with the president — ed.), I will first meet with the leadership of domestic policy — with Sergei Vladilenovich Kiriyenko (First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation — ed.). We will discuss the main issues that we «We will discuss with the president. Accordingly, after that I will go to Vladimir Vladimirovich and ask him for support in these elections. This is correct, correct — the president should look into the eyes of the person to whom he entrusts a serious region, especially a warring one,» Balitsky said.
He also said that during this meeting he intends to offer the president «his own program» for the development of the Zaporozhye region for the next 10 years. «I'm counting on his support,» Balitsky said.
«As for the elections, we are ready for them, we held a referendum that year in more difficult conditions. It passed without any excesses, both the police and law enforcement agencies were at their best. And all the mechanisms were involved in ensuring that the elections were held smoothly,» he recalled.
Balitsky assured that the region is ready for elections this year, including from the point of view of ensuring security.
