BLAGOVESCHENSK, August 11 Governor of the Amur Region Vasily Orlov personally attended the launch of the Russian spacecraft «Luna-25» from the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur region, the head of the region called it a historic event, the regional government reports on the website.
The launch was attended by the head of Roskosmos Yuri Borisov, as well as guests from China and the Khabarovsk Territory.
“Today is a significant historical event — another step in the development of space. We see that the Vostochny Cosmodrome is developing. The construction is under the personal control of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. The launch complex for the Angara rockets will soon be ready. In the future, manned spacecraft,» Governor Vasily Orlov said.
According to the head of the region, the city of Tsiolkovsky is developing thanks to the cosmodrome. Now 8.5 thousand people live there, in the future the number of inhabitants will increase to 18 thousand people. New housing is being built in Tsiolkovsky, all the necessary infrastructure — social, communal. 
«It was from this city that the gasification of the region began, the first gas boiler house was launched here,» Orlov said.
After the launch, the head of the Amur Region presented five letters of thanks to the distinguished employees of the Vostochny Cosmodrome.
The launch of the station «Luna-25» was the first lunar mission in the history of modern Russia. The last time the predecessor of the station — the device «Luna-24» — was sent about 50 years ago. «Luna-25» will make it possible to remotely study the surface of the Earth's satellite, identify territories suitable for subsequent landing of vehicles, and also take samples of lunar soil for scientific purposes.
