MOSCOW, Aug 11, Andrey Senchenko. International Ice Hockey Federation ( IIHF) will announce a decision on the contract of Russian goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov with CSKA Moscow on Monday, said the organization's president, Luc Tardif.
Continental Hockey League (KHL) July 8 registered Fedotov's contract with CSKA. Earlier, the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Philadelphia Flyers announced that the goalkeeper's agreement, concluded in 2022, will be valid in the 2023/24 season.
«The IIHF statement will be released on Monday,» Tardif said.
Also, the president of the organization, in response to a question about the financial influence of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RHF) on the IIHF, noted that the position of the department would be expressed on Monday. Earlier, FHR First Vice President Roman Rotenberg said that more than 50% of IIHF income depends on the Russian national team and that due to its non-participation in international tournaments, the International Ice Hockey Federation will have financial difficulties.
In 2022, Fedotov signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL), but was detained at the military enlistment office and sent for military service. The NHL says that Fedotov's contract with Philadelphia was frozen for a year and should be valid in the new season. At the same time, the KHL announced the registration of the hockey player's contract with CSKA. Later, the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR) stated that it would insist on strict adherence to the rules of international transfers in the situation with the goalkeeper's contract, and the president of the army team, Igor Esmantovich, stated that the player's departure to the NHL was ruled out in the near future.
