MOSCOW, Aug 13 The West wants to see the head of the Ministry of Defense Ukrainian woman, according to the publication «Strana.ua».
On August 10, Ukrayinska Pravda reported that Volodymyr Zelensky was looking for a replacement for the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov, there are at least two candidates for the position — Minister of Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov and Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin.
“Now, against the backdrop of constant corruption scandals, which the Western press is already writing about, as well as the failure in a number of areas of procurement, Reznikov’s resignation looks really likely. In any case, the authorities need to somehow respond… According to rumors , which ply in political circles, Western partners allegedly want to see a woman at the head of the Ministry of Defense,» the publication said in a message published on the Telegram channel.
According to the newspaper, volunteer Maria Berlinskaya, Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk, director of the Anti-Corruption Action Center Daria Kaleniuk are among the candidates.
In January, after the scandal over publications in the media about the purchase by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense of products for the military at inflated prices, Reznikov tried to justify himself by explaining the situation as a «common technical error.» In particular, he said that the «anomalous price» for eggs of 17 hryvnias was actually indicated not per piece, but per weight.
In February, the head of the Servant of the People faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, claimed that Reznikov would be transferred from the post of defense minister to the post of minister for strategic industries, and Budanov, head of the main intelligence department of the defense ministry, would take his place. Reznikov himself then said that he had heard about this for the first time and was unlikely to agree to such a position.
