In particular, official services no longer have access to online systems that were previously used for maintenance and troubleshooting.
German premium brands left the Russian car market last year. In particular, Mercedes-Benz and BMW no longer officially supply cars to the Russian Federation, in addition, they refused to produce cars at local sites. Recall that the production of cars of the Bavarian brand was established at the facilities of the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad, and Mercedes had its own passenger car production plant in the Moscow region. png» />All Russian assets of Mercedes-Benz were bought by the Avtodom Group of Companies: the closing of this transaction became known at the end of April this year. At the end of May, a rebranding took place, within which Mercedes-Benz Rus JSC became MB RUS JSC. It should be noted that the new owner retained the right to carry out maintenance of brand cars sold on the Russian market, including warranty and post-warranty support.
According to Izvestia, the German concern Mercedes-Benz completely turned off Russian dealers from their software, the same problem is faced by dealers who provide service to BMW cars. Now their access to online systems that allow them to perform maintenance and identify vehicle problems has become limited.
MB RUS noted that disconnecting Russian dealers from Mercedes-Benz software in some cases will require more time for repair work. At the same time, the company assured that they would continue to service and repair the brand's cars, taking into account the «accumulated experience and knowledge.»
The publication noted that dealers today are trying to comply with warranty obligations to customers. To do this, they have to bypass restrictions using third-party software, as well as equipment that is sold on marketplaces. However, at the same time, the term “official dealer” itself, in fact, loses its meaning, the speaker of the publication added.
According to the vice-president of the National Automobile Union (NAU) Jan Heitzeera, disconnecting dealers in the Russian Federation from software can lead to problems with signaling and coding keys from German premium brands. He explained that now part of the diagnostics will be carried out offline, and if it is necessary to use workarounds, dealers will continue to either connect to services via European IP addresses or contact other companies, online services are usually developed by third-party companies. .
Let us remind you that MB RUS JSC is engaged not only in passenger cars, but also in commercial vehicles: for example, the company is the exclusive distributor of low-tonnage and medium-tonnage chassis of the Chinese brand Forland.
