The airline Red Wings explained the delay of flights for more than two days due to the breakdown of two of the three Boeing-777s in the fleet

The Russian airline Red Wings was unable to fly from Turkish Antalya to Yekaterinburg and back, as two Boeing-777 passenger aircraft out of three in the fleet simultaneously failed. This was reported by the press service of the carrier.

We are talking about flights WZ-3061 and WZ-3062, initially the flight from Antalya was supposed to take off on the evening of August 12. The flight from Yekaterinburg was planned by the Red Wings the next day. As E1.RU writes, about 400 passengers are waiting for a delayed flight to Russia.

The airline confirmed the flight delay, but the reasons were not named for the first two days. Today, the press service of Red Wings said that the reason for the postponement of flights was the breakdown of two of the three existing airliners.

“The flight was delayed due to an emergency situation: for technical reasons, two Boeing 777 aircraft failed at the same time out of three available in the airline's fleet,» the carrier said in a statement.

As Red Wings clarified, they plan to take out passengers on an IKAR aircraft. The plane has already taken off from the capital's Sheremetyevo Airport to Yekaterinburg's Koltsovo Airport to send people to Turkey. Then the same plane will pick up the Russians, who are waiting to take off from Antalya.

After the start of the war in Ukraine, the largest Russian airlines and their leaders came under sanctions. In addition, Boeing and Airbus suspended deliveries of spare parts to Russia and ceased maintenance and support of Russian airlines; leasing contracts were terminated due to restrictions.

In September, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) gave Russia a “red flag” on the safety audit page in 187 countries around the world. Later, the Project found out that Russian airlines had lowered their flight safety requirements due to a shortage of spare parts.
