KUBINKA, Aug 13The armament of the BK-10 special-purpose boats will be strengthened based on the results of their use in a special military operation, Alan Lushnikov, president of the Kalashnikov concern, told reporters on Sunday.
According to him, the concern has several issues related to boats, these are security, speed, maneuverability and weapons.
«Security, one might say, is quite sufficient for traditional types of weapons, although protection against unmanned aerial vehicles is required — a new threat that has manifested itself in this particular conflict,» he said.
“As for armament, we had the opportunity to install machine-gun armament under 7.62 and 12.7, and so, first of all, the armament 12.7 showed the effectiveness — the 7.62 caliber turned out to be too small for solving these problems «, — said Lushnikov.
“Therefore, such a solution suggests itself and it will be implemented,” he added.
BK-10 is designed for operations in the coastal zone, transportation of personnel, landing on an unequipped coast, fire support for the landing, combating piracy and terrorism, medical evacuation, and rendering assistance to those in distress. The boat has a displacement of 6 tons and is capable of developing 40 knots.
