The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced a 25-year-old Muscovite to four years and two months in a penal colony because of an audio message on his Telegram channel. This was reported by the capital's department of the Investigative Committee.
Although the name of the convict is not named, Philip Medvedev, a supporter of the Libertarian Party, fits the description — he was sentenced on August 15 in the case of incitement to terrorism on the Internet (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). Due to last year's audio recording in the telegram, he has been in jail since March 2023.
On the night of April 14, 2022, a few hours after the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed the loss of the Moskva cruiser, Medvedev reposted in his telegram channel for several dozen subscribers a post about it and posted an audio message.
“Launch, damn it, a volley from the Iskanders. Kill them all there. Let them burn in the righteous fire of retribution. Strike directly at the FSB headquarters in Moscow. Bomb the fuck out of this building, please, fucking, ”the recording said. The Beware the News project called the audio a parody of an old video by YouTuber Kamikaze Dee.
After the start of the war in Ukraine, 25-year-old Medvedev was already under criminal prosecution in May 2022. The security forces accused him of puncturing the tires on a car with a Z sticker. As a result, he was assigned corrective labor. In winter, a Muscovite was detained at the border with Georgia, and since then, a court in Moscow given him 15 days of arrest three times in a row because of publications on VKontakte. After that, Medvedev was sent to a pre-trial detention center on a new criminal case of incitement to terrorism.
According to the Caution, News project, another case was soon opened against Medvedev — under the same terrorist article. The reason was a post written after the detention of politician Alexei Navalny at the airport in January 2021. “The Russian Glorious Revolution began the day before yesterday from Vnukovo, and now it is up to us, it is we, who will have to IGNITE FIRE FROM ITS MATCHES,” the libertarian wrote, altering the line from the song of the Kino group called “Try to sing along with me.”
The IC release states that the verdict was passed only because of the audio message about the Iskanders. The case file also mentions only one episode of «calls for terrorism».
