The Moscow Regional Court fined transgender girl Katerina Myers 300 thousand rubles in the case of violation of the requirements for the protection of state secrets (Part 1 of Article 283.2 of the Criminal Code). Lawyer Konstantin Erokhin told Mediazone about this.
The state prosecution requested a fine of 400 thousand rubles for her. The case was considered at a closed meeting and in a special order, since Myers pleaded guilty. The defense does not plan to appeal the decision, Erokhin added. He initially spoke of his intention to receive a fine.
What exactly was the charge is not fully known, since the girl and her lawyer signed a non-disclosure agreement. “It is known that there is an attempt to illegally cross the state border by a person who once had access to state secrets. The event itself, that is, the attempt to travel abroad, we do not dispute, ”Erokhin said.
Myers explained that she tried to leave Russia because of the threats she received.
In December 2022, the FSB did not release the girl from the country, citing the fact that she was considered a carrier of state secrets and could not leave the country until 2026. Prior to changing the gender marker, Myers served in the FSB, whose employees are subject to restrictions on leaving the country.
