The document has been approved by the Cabinet, and the bill is being submitted to the State Duma

Recently, the authors of the initiative received a response from the government, in which Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko noted that «the issues of granting the right to free travel» have been sufficiently regulated within the powers of state authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, local governments and in additional regulation at the federal level proposed by the bill are not needed.

“The adoption of the bill will not entail negative socio-economic, financial and other consequences,” – written in the explanatory note to the bill.

– In Russia, there are already categories of citizens who are entitled to receive a free pass on public transport, – says «MK» the author of the bill, the first deputy head of the LDPR faction in the State Duma, Sergei Leonov. – The bill adds to them the children of military personnel participating in a special operation in Ukraine. Until the age of 16, they will be able to ride buses, trams, and subways for free. According to preliminary estimates, the benefit will apply to approximately 1 million citizens. These are not such significant expenses, but nevertheless, it will be a little easier for our soldiers who have gone to the front, they will know that their families are taken care of in the rear, that their children will be able to get to school and back home, to the section, to grandparents .

– Hundreds of thousands of men in Russia were mobilized, many had children at home. And of course, most of the worries are connected with them, – explained «MK» Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, member of the LDPR faction Stanislav Naumov. – After all, without a dad, many routine processes are violated. He does not take to school, to the circle, to relatives. The whole household fell on the shoulders of my mother, and she may have other things to do. We propose to give the right to the children of the mobilized to use municipal public transport free of charge. In those settlements where there is no money for these additional expenses, subsidies can be allocated from the regional budget.
