
MOSCOW, August 19. An emergency situation occurred on board the Luna-25 station, which prevented the transition to a pre-landing orbit with the specified parameters. This was reported in Roskosmos.
«Today, in accordance with the Luna-25 flight program, at 14:10 an impulse was issued to transfer the station to the pre-landing orbit. During the operation, an emergency situation occurred on board the automatic station , which prevented the maneuver with the given parameters,» the statement says.
According to the state corporation, now specialists of the control group are analyzing the situation.
The Soyuz 2.1b rocket with the first domestic lunar station in almost 50 years was launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome at 02:11 Moscow time on August 11.
The main goal of the mission is to examine the soil of the Earth's natural satellite for the presence of ice.
The Luna-25 automatic station was created at the Lavochkin Research and Production Association. It should be the first spacecraft to land gently in the area of the South Pole of the Moon, where the complex terrain prevails. This is expected to happen on August 21.
