
PYATIGORSK, August 18 Bailiffs of the city of Pyatigorsk seized paintings worth five million rubles from the museum «Pushkin House in the Caucasus» due to debts, the press reported service of the Main Directorate of the Federal Bailiff Service of Russia for the Stavropol Territory.

"On execution in the Pyatigorsk city department of bailiffs of the Main Directorate of the FSSP of Russia for the Stavropol Territory, there are 26 enforcement proceedings against the debtor Baydos Marina Filippovna. Due to the fact that the debtor did not take measures to pay off the debt, the service employees went to the registration address to establish the property status,» the department said.
As explained in the department, according to the law, bailiffs had the right to seize the property of the debtor, as well as withdraw it.
««The arrest of the debtor's property is used to ensure the safety of property that is subject to sale in the event of non-payment of the debt. Based on Article 446 of the Code of Civil Procedure of the Russian Federation, paintings are not included in the list of property that cannot be levied under executive documents,» – concluded in the department.
Earlier, a number of media outlets published accusations by the director of the NGO «Fund for Culture and Social Initiatives» Pushkin House in the Caucasus «Marina Bayros against bailiffs who, according to her, stole paintings by a descendant of Natalia Goncharova- Pushkina in the amount of five million rubles on account of her debt in the amount of three million rubles.The woman said that the paintings were not her property, but belonged to the fund, because of this, the bailiffs had no right to seize the painting.
