Head of PMC "Wagner" Yevgeny Prigozhin broke the public silence that started after the attempted rebellion in Russia at the end of June. His short video message against the backdrop of a hot and desert landscape spread through Telegram channels.
«We are working,» Prigogine says in the video. — PMC "Wagner" makes Russia even greater on all continents. And Africa — even more free.
He further said that PMCs are recruiting again — «real heroes» are required.
Earlier, the Western media began discussing the possible connection of PMCs with armed rebellions in a number of African countries, in particular, in Niger. Prigozhin did not comment on these assumptions, but said that the PMC continues to «perform the tasks that were set», without specifying what it was about.
After the events of June 24, Prigozhin and PMCs were supposed to go to Belarus. As President Alexander Lukashenko stated, he personally participated in negotiations with a former active functionary of the NVO and suggested that he stop illegal actions under security guarantees when transferring forces to a neighboring country. Subsequently, the Belarusian authorities, including the military command, stated that they were actively cooperating with PMCs and conducting joint training, and that the experience of these fighters could be very useful to the armed forces of Belarus. At the end of July, Prigozhin gave a brief commentary to the African media, in which he praised Russian President Vladimir Putin for hosting the Russia-Africa summit. in St. Petersburg.
