Roskosmos reported an emergency situation with an automatic interplanetary station
“Today, in accordance with the Luna-25 AMS flight program, at 14:10 Moscow time, an impulse was issued to transfer the station to the pre-landing orbit. During the operation, an emergency situation occurred on board the automatic station, which did not allow the maneuver to be performed with the specified parameters, ”the state corporation reported. And a little later, rumors leaked that things could be much worse.
We asked a specialist from the industry to comment on the situation, and this is what he told us:
— The braking impulse was given to the station in order to slightly reduce perileunes — the lunar perigee, in order to bring the moment of a successful landing closer. However, the propulsion system worked out an impulse one and a half times more than it should. If this is true, then the station could enter an open orbit of descent…
– I don't want to believe it, but the lack of communication with the spacecraft can only speak of the latter.

– Not. I think that scientists should have calculated this risk and prepared the device for it in the first place.
— It is not yet clear what caused this to happen, there did not seem to be an error in the calculations. There may be a problem with the communication system or with the control. And the human factor can never be ruled out. Now there is a «debriefing».
As it became known, in the evening, after reporting an emergency situation with the station «Luna-25» in the NPO. Lavochkin, from where the apparatus was controlled, Alexander Ivanov, First Deputy General Director of Roscosmos for the development of the orbital group and promising projects, arrived to hold an emergency meeting on the situation with Luna-25.
