MOSCOW, August 22 Russian President Vladimir Putin announced Russia's readiness to return to the grain deal in the event that it actually fulfills its obligations to the Russian side.
Speaking of the grain deal in his address Putin said to the participants of the BRICS business forum that none of the conditions of the so-called grain deal regarding the withdrawal of Russian exports of grain and fertilizers from sanctions to world markets had been implemented. «Obligations to Russia in this regard were simply ignored. They even prevented us from transferring mineral fertilizers blocked in European ports free of charge, although it was a purely humanitarian action, which should not be subject to any sanctions in principle,» Putin said.
recalled that Russia had ceased its participation in the deal.
«Taking into account the facts mentioned above, since July 18, we have refused to further extend this so-called deal and will be ready to return to it, but return only if all obligations to the Russian side,» he said.
