The Ministry of Internal Affairs put on the wanted list 71-year-old Arkhangelsk oppositionist Yuri Shcherbachev. SOTA drew attention to the card in the agency's database.
According to the card, the activist is wanted in a criminal case, a specific article is not indicated there.
Shcherbachev headed the Arkhangelsk regional branch of the People's Freedom Party (PARNAS), which was liquidated by the Supreme Court in May. Every year, on the day of the assassination of Boris Nemtsov, he organized actions in memory of the politician.
In May 2022, Shcherbachev was detained and a protocol was drawn up against him on “discrediting” the army (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) due to anti-war posts on VKontakte. In August of the same year, the oppositionist left Russia and requested political asylum in Norway.
In October 2020, a criminal case was opened against Shcherbachev for insulting the National Guard (Article 319 of the Criminal Code) because of a post on VKontakte, in which he called the security forces “guards”, “thugs”, “cop muzzles” and «bastards in uniform». In the spring of 2021, the Investigative Committee closed the case due to the lack of publication of “linguistic signs of an indecent form of expression.”
