ST. PETERSBURG, Aug 20 All screenings of the films of the international documentary film festival «RT.Doc: Time of Heroes» in St. Petersburg were sold out , Ekaterina Yakovleva, general producer of the festival, said at the closing.
«There are queues to us, people go, they watch films, and if you go to some feature film now (to the cinema — ed.), you will not see as many people as come to us to watch documentaries, to watch the truth,» Yakovleva said.
According to the producer, at the festival people did not just watch films, they united, discussed and experienced what they saw together.
“You know, they even approached us in Krasnodar and said: finally, after watching these films, I understood everything, understood what the essence of the special military operation is, what we are fighting for and what is really happening,” said Yakovleva.
The campaign for the «ribbon» — this is how the organizers described the festival. At the closing ceremony, participants of directors of premiere films were awarded diplomas. The military, who until recently were in the NVO zone, also became participants in the closing ceremony. Many of them are now undergoing rehabilitation in St. Petersburg. «Some people ask me after being wounded, they ask: are you sorry? When we hoisted the banner of victory at the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station with the political officer, for some reason there was not a single shot from the other side, I dreamed of hoisting the same banner at the Verkhovna Rada, I hope my fighters will hoist it up,» Goncharov said.
Chicherina group became the headliner of the closing ceremony of the festival in St. Petersburg. Its leader actively advocates for the military in the NVO zone.
