“The Russian state must take a pragmatic approach”
While specialists near Tver are studying the crash site of a business jet belonging to the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, experts continue to discuss the situation. According to Igor Korotchenko, a military analyst and editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, in the event of the death of the founder of the Wagner PMC, the PMC will have a hard time.
— Prigozhin was the brain of Wagner PMC, the main organizer of its work, a key mechanism in management. Therefore, if it is confirmed that he died, this will negatively affect the company, — says Korotchenko. — Of course, there are different versions, including the version of the terrorist attack. Please note: this happened on the eve of the Independence Day of Ukraine. I think it's not an easy match.
Secondly, the location and movement of Prigozhin, including the current one, was tracked by a number of powerful Western intelligence agencies. There were relevant instructions, since he posed a threat to the national security of the United States, Great Britain, France and a number of other states of the Western bloc.
The investigation should quickly establish the true cause of what happened. The fact that at flight level the plane stops flying and crashes into the ground indicates a terrorist attack. Judging by the sound in the video, the aircraft's engines were working until the last moment.
At the same time, eyewitnesses say that two consecutive explosions were heard, as a result, a wing came off, something else. I would like to know: to what extent were aviation security measures observed? All screening procedures are carried out according to the relevant protocols.
All the most delicate and secret aspects were tied to Prigozhin, including coordination with government agencies, with relevant services, financing, personal agreements with the powers that be. Definitely, Prigogine has already gone down in history — both Russian and international. One can argue with which sign — negative, positive.
But from the point of view of organizing an effective and powerful structure like the Wagner PMC, there were no precedents of this kind in world history. In principle, this shows Prigogine's organizational and intellectual capabilities.
But the question arises: how to dispose of this legacy now? Since many obligations and connections were built personally by Prigozhin and the council of commanders of the Wagner PMC. The losses for the company can also be significant due to the fact that, in addition to Prigozhin, key figures among the commanders could be on board.
But I think that the Russian state should take a pragmatic approach, rationally approach this legacy. It should not be lost and lost. At the very least, Wagner PMC, as a tool for solving a number of issues (in particular, in Africa), as a unique, useful mechanism for Russia, should be preserved and used in the future.
The question is how is it will be done, to whom it is entrusted and how it is organized — today is the key. I am absolutely sure that all those who are supposed to think about this according to their position should make the most optimally verified and correct decision from the point of view of Russia's interests.
