Judge of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow Olga Lipkina fined writer and journalist Mikhail Zygar 30,000 rubles. This was reported by a Mediazona correspondent from the courtroom.
Zygar was found guilty of distributing materials without marking a “foreign agent” (part 4 of article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses). At the meeting, it became known that the protocol was drawn up on July 5.
According to the correspondent of Mediazona, the reason for compiling the protocol was four publications on the journalist's Telegram channel. In the posts, Zygar posted links to his YouTube channel and talked about interviews with journalists Christian Amanpour and Can Dundar, Chinese artist Ai Weiwei and musician Boris Grebenshchikov. Screenshots of posts made on June 19, as well as confirmation that Zygar is aware of his status as a “foreign agent” were attached to the case file.
The writer was included in the register of “foreign agents” on October 21, 2022. Shortly thereafter, his books, as Anastasia Burlakova, a resident of Moscow, said, were refused acceptance in the capital's libraries.
