JOHANNESBURG, Aug 24 Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik said, that the republic is ready to take part in the BRICS Sports Games in 2024, if there is such an invitation.
«We also support the initiative to hold the BRICS Sports Games in 2024. If invited, the Belarusian team is ready to take part in this significant sporting event,» the minister said, speaking during the BRICS-Africa Outreach and BRICS dialogues Plus».
He noted that against the background of discrimination in the international Olympic movement, all athletes should have the right to show their skills in a fair fight and without political speculation.
In May, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin, at a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the government, proposed holding the BRICS Sports Games in Russia in 2024. As expected, the BRICS Games will be held in Kazan from 12 to 23 June 2024.
